Show Characteristics

With the exception of Clara, an original Gory Toons character, recurring characters come from pop culture. The archive includes characters associated with SpongeBob SquarePants, Happy Tree Friends, Kirby, South Park, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Tom & Jerry, Cuphead, Super Mario, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Most characters are recreated in a simple MS Paint-inspired Gory Toons style, while some parody appearances reference the visual language of their source series.

As in Happy Tree Friends, characters can behave as children, teenagers, or adults depending on the episode. Regular stories usually begin with everyday activities and escalate into sudden cartoon violence, frequently through accidents involving otherwise harmless objects. Deaths do not create strict continuity, so characters can reappear alive later.

Blind Mistake is treated as the unusual firearm-related exception in the archive. Regular episodes begin with a title card based on the YouTube thumbnail and episode title; titles frequently use wordplay, and many episodes finish with a closing-iris transition.

Characters

SpongeBob SquarePants is the first character seen in the series. Cuddles, Kirby, and Eric Cartman are among the other consistently prominent recurring characters, while Pop becomes increasingly prominent in later episodes. Kenny McCormick is notable for repeatedly dying in his appearances; Wario frequently serves as comic relief; King Dedede is a recurring antagonist; and Flippy is one of the recurring characters who intentionally kills others. Clara is the only recurring character original to Gory Toons and is notable in the archive for surviving all of her appearances.
